CHOP: COOKING HEALTHY OPTIONS & PORTIONS

CHOP is a 6-week culinary education course that features mentees and mentors cooking meals together learning about nutrition and sharpening their culinary skills.

ACT PREP

Led by Tiffany Wimberly from ACT Qualified, this prep class at Son of a Saint helps young men get ready for the ACT test. It's more than just studying; it's about giving personalized support to each student. Through focused lessons and supportive guidance, our mentees in their junior and senior years of highschool gain the skills and confidence they need to do well on the test and beyond.

SOFT SKILLS WORKSHOP

Led by Fred Johnson from Fourth Education Firm, the soft skills workshop at Son of a Saint is all about teaching young men important life skills. They learn how to communicate well, work in teams, solve problems, time management, and personal hygiene. The workshop is interactive and practical, giving mentees the chance to practice these skills in a supportive environment.

FINANCIAL LITERACY

Led by First Generation Investors, the financial literacy workshop at Son of a Saint teaches young men about managing money wisely. They learn how to budget, save, invest, and avoid debt. By providing practical knowledge and skills, the workshop helps participants make smart financial decisions for a secure future.

SEWING WITH RIC RACK

Led by Ric Rack, sewing class at Son of a Saint introduces young men to the art and practical skill of sewing. Through hands-on instruction and guided practice, participants learn the basics of sewing, including how to thread a needle, operate a sewing machine, and stitch fabric together. By mastering the fundamentals of sewing, participants gain confidence in their abilities to create and repair clothing and other fabric items.

PODCASTING

Led by BeLoud Studios, the Son of a Saint podcasting workshop offers young men a platform to explore their voices and share their stories with the world. Through interactive sessions and hands-on training, participants learn the ins and outs of podcasting, from conceptualizing ideas to recording and editing audio. This workshop not only hones technical skills but also fosters creativity and self-expression.

HOGS FOR THE CAUSE

Son of a Saint participates in Hogs for the Cause by rolling up our sleeves and staffing the event's bars. With enthusiasm and dedication, we serve drinks and engage with attendees, all while raising vital funds for our boys.

INAUGURAL SON OF A SAINT HOOPS FEST

The debut of Hoops Fest marked an exciting milestone as mentors and mentees from Son of a Saint took to the court for friendly competition. With mentors and mentees facing off, the tournament not only celebrated athleticism but also highlighted the bond and support within the Son of a Saint family.

DAUGHTERS BEYOND INCARCERATION YOUTH DAY AT THE CAPITOL

Daughters Beyond Incarceration (DBI) is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Youth Day at the Capitol, in collaboration with various statewide organizations. Son of a Saint is proud to have our boys work alongside 150 students at the Louisiana State Capitol. Students, representing partnering schools and organizations, will deliver impactful speeches to raise awareness about legislative issues that directly impact their lived experiences. THE ZURICH CLASSIC

Son of a Saint staff volunteers at The Zurich Classic as beneficiaries of the tournament's 'Fore! Kids Foundation' grant. Through our involvement, we aim to both contribute to the success of the event and advance our mission of providing mentorship and resources to young men in our community.

A NIGHT IN NEW YORK
